Submitting a design

This section will cover the questions related to submitting a design to our contests. You should note that our rules are expecially strict for Professional contests.

General Contest Guidelines

1. Entering Contests

• Every entry should meet the requirements of the contest description
• All entries must be posted as replies in the contest thread
• A short description of the design may be provided in the reply
• Designers may only post their 3 best designs in each contest
• Revisions may only be made upon request of the contest holder

Please Note: At times, a forum administrator might allow more than 3 entries to be submitted. However, designers shouldn't ask for this directly!

If you have submitted a contest entry and misunderstood the contest brief, or made an assumption about something not covered in the brief, you cannot submit a corrected entry. For this reason, we kindly ask that designers pay careful attention to what is, and what is not, stated in the brief.

2. Late Submissions

• Designers should check the current contest deadline before entering
• Post-deadline entries are not allowed and will be removed immediately
• Revisions that were requested prior to the deadline may be honored

Please Note: A contest deadline may sometimes get extended. Designers will not be notified when an extension occurs, so please watch for it.

3. Communication (during an open contest)

• Designers may only contact the contest holder via the contest thread
• External communication with the contest holder will lead to banishment
• The contest thread shouldn't be used to comment on others' designs
• Comments left to the contest holder must be polite and professional

Please Note: If you wish to comment on a particular design, consider sending a Private Message or start a new thread in the Elite Designers Only forum.

Posting revisions/variations.

We have some strict rules about submitting revisions/variations. It is our goal to ensure quality over quantity, which is why these rules are in place. Please keep them in mind while participating in contests.

1. General Rules

• Revisions may only be done when requested by the contest holder
• A revision request must be clearly written, not just vaguely implied
• Perform revisions as described, without including unnecessary work
• Self-motivated revisions will be moved to Chat with the Mods forum

2. Exceptions The following revisions can be submitted at any time:

• Repositioning the main symbol in a logo
• Repositioning the text in a logo
• Resizing or rotating the main symbol in a logo
• Recoloring the individual shapes of a design
• Editing the text on a webpage design

3. Revised vs. New If a revision makes the design completely different from the original, it will be considered a new design. We ask that designers please use their common sense in discerning when this has occurred.
